Check that overlay was not used during PDF creation. If it was used
intentionally, check that the chosen files have content suitable for the
overlay.
My PDF viewer will not open the PDF
Check that the PDF version is suitable for your PDF viewer. For instance:
Versions up to 1.3 can be opened by version 4 of Adobe Acrobat.
Versions up to 1.4 can be opened by version 5 of Adobe Acrobat
Versions up to 1.5 can be opened by version 6 of Adobe Acrobat.
Versions up to 1.6 can be opened by version 7 of Adobe Acrobat.
Versions up to 1.7 can be opened by version 8 of Adobe Acrobat.
Version PDF/A can be opened by version 5 of Adobe Acrobat or higher.
Pictures have disappeared from the PDF
Check the compression setting.
The automatic setting must be 5 or above for pictures to appear.
Pictures do not print well
Check compression settings. Increase
the resolution settings or raise the automatic setting so that it is above
50. Screen display can tolerate lower resolutions and higher compression,
but for good-quality printing you should reduce the compression. If you
enable MRC compression without using its profile, set the other compression
setting to lossless.
PDF creation fails
You must have a print-enabled application on your system that can handle
the source file and that is associated with it.
Wrong Paper Size or Orientation, or Missing Worksheets
If these errors appear, please open the files explicitly with the application
that created them or that can open them properly, adjust the paper size,
orientation, and other printing settings as required. Then use the File
menu item Print to create the
PDF file, choosing ScanSoft PDF Create!
as your printer. After converting files to PDF correctly in this way,
you can use the Assistant to combine them.
Because MS Office applications control these settings themselves, printer
settings are ignored in these cases. This means that for example an A4
size PDF file will be generated from an A4 size Word document, independently
from the current printer settings.
Files Cannot be Added to List
Some files could be rejected by PDF Create! because they do not have
an associated program for printing. You should associate the file with
a more suitable application (preferably the one that created the file),
first installing the application if necessary.
For further guidance, please consult the Release Notes file or the Nuance web site.
