System Requirements

System Requirements

The following are the minimum requirements to install and run PDF Converter Professional 6.0

  • A computer with a Intel® Pentium® or higher processor

  • Supported operating systems

    • Windows XP 32-bit Edition with Service Pack 3

    • Windows Vista 32-bit or 64-bit Editions with Service Pack 1

    • Windows 2003 Server

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or above

  • 256 MB of memory (RAM), 512 MB recommended

  • 500 MB of free hard disk space for application files plus 100 MB working space during installation

  • SVGA monitor with 256 colors, but preferably 16-bit color (called Medium Color in XP) and 800 x 600 pixel resolution

  • Sound card is optionally required for using the functionality of the supplied Text-To-Speech Engine

  • Windows-compatible pointing device

  • CD-ROM drive for installation

  • Web access needed for product registration, activation and obtaining live updates for the program.

  • To save DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files (for Microsoft Office 2007 Word, Excel and PowerPoint) you should have or install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0. The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 is part of the Windows Vista operating system and does not need to be installed there.  The Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 can be installed on Windows XP.

General Notes

  • Conversions of XPS documents into editable formats and PDF-XPS do not require having any additional component installed on the computer.

  • Performance and speed will be enhanced if your computer’s processor, memory, and available disk space exceed minimum requirements. This is especially true when converting very large color PDF files.  Hyper-thread enabled or multi-processor systems can deliver better performance.

  • Conversion to different editable formats can be performed whether or not the target applications are installed on your system. However, to use the results, you need the applications associated to the target file types you want to use (for example Microsoft Word XP (SP3), Microsoft Word 2003 (SP1) for .doc files, the same versions of Microsoft Excel for .xls files, Microsoft Office 2007 (SP1) for DOCX, XLSX and PPTX files and Corel WordPerfect  X3 anf v14 for .wpd files). If the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for an earlier Office product is installed on your computer, the Office 2007 output files can be opened in an earlier Office version.

  • To get full PDF Portfolio support, a Flash player component has to be installed on the computer.

  • The Enterprise Edition is delivered with support of LexisNexis® CaseMap® 7.0.

Document Management System support in the Enterprise Edition

  • Microsoft SharePoint Server 2003 and 2007 and SharePoint Services 3.0

  • Hummingbird Enterprise™ 2005

PDF Professional supports Hummingbird Enterprise systems if a DM Extensions API is installed and configured on the client machine. The product is also integrated into Windows Explorer DM Extension.

  • Interwoven® WorkSite 7.5.1 and 8.3

PDF Professional supports Interwoven WorkSite systems if DeskSite 6.6 for WorkSite 7.5.1 or DeskSite 8.3 for WorkSite 8.3 is installed and configured on the client machine. The product is also integrated into DeskSite clients.

(Note: Using DeskSite 8.3 under Windows Vista operating systems is highly recommended.)

  • Hummingbird® DOCSOpen® 4.0

Refer to the DOCSOpen installation guide to perform the client installation. When this is done, the program will be able to connect to the server.

  • Livelink® ECM - Enterprise Server 9.7.0. from OpenText Corp.

PDF Professional supports LiveLink ECM if LiveLink Explorer Professional Windows Client is installed and configured on the client machine.

Note
Performance and speed will be enhanced if your computer’s processor, memory, and available disk space exceed minimum requirements. This is especially true when converting very large color PDF files.

Hmm.. Requirements say XP SP3; I have XP SP2 (Installed SP3 twice - when first released and again after Microsoft supposedly fixed the AMD processor bugs. Still couldn't run and had to reinstall OS to SP2 again).

I guess I'll find out if that requirement is just boiler plate or if SP3 is truly needed.
