Sometimes uninstalling and then reinstalling OmniPage will
solve a problem.
The Uninstall program will not remove any of the following
user-created files:
Zone templates (*.zon)
Image Enhancement templates (*.ipp)
Training files (*.otn)
User dictionaries (*.ud)
OmniPage Documents (*.opd)
Workflow files (*.xwf)
Job files (*.opj)
Saved image files or export files.
The default
location for these files is
under
Vista:
Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\ScanSoft\OmniPage17\
under
Windows XP:
Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\ScanSoft\OmniPage17\
and the following subfolders: EnhancementTemplate,
Job, ZoneTemplate, Training, UserDictionary, WorkFlow.
If you cannot find the Application Data folder (AppData), do
the following:
under Vista
Click Organize, select Folder and Search Options. In the Folder Options
dialog box, click the View tab and select Show
hidden files and folders. Click Apply, then OK.
under Windows XP
From the Start menu select Settings > Network Connections. In the
Network Connections window, select Tools > Folder Options. In the Folder
Options dialog box, select the View tab.
In the View panel under Hidden files and folders, select Show
hidden files and folders.
Click Apply, then OK.
To uninstall OmniPage:
Close OmniPage.
Click Start in the Windows taskbar and choose
Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs,
or under Vista, Control Panel > Programs
and Features.
Select OmniPage and click Remove.
Under Vista, click Uninstall.
Click Yes
in the dialog box that appears to confirm removing the program.
Click Yes
to restart your system immediately after installation, or No if you plan to restart later.
When you Uninstall OmniPage,
the link to your scanner is also uninstalled. You must setup your scanner
again with OmniPage if you reinstall the program. All RealSpeak modules
that were installed with the program will also be uninstalled. With OmniPage
Professional, Nuance PDF Create 5 should be uninstalled separately.
OmniPage Remover Tool
Under specific circumstances you might be instructed by Technical
Support to use the OmniPage Remover Tool for program uninstallation. To
learn more about this application consult Nuance's online Knowledge Base:
Go to www.nuance.com and choose
Support from the top menu.
Select Knowledge Base under Free
Online Support on the left.
Choose OmniPage and click Continue.
Type 5829 into the Search Criteria
field and click Search to display Tech Note 5829 with in-depth information
on the Remover Tool.
