Modifying table zones

You can modify table zones by resizing, joining or dividing them, and drawing or moving table dividers to determine where gridlines will appear when the table is placed in the Text Editor.

• Table zones are constrained to rectangular and square shapes. Attempting to modify the area of a table zone to an irregular shape is not allowed.

To move row or column dividers in a table zone:

1. Click the Move dividers tool in the Image toolbar.

2. Move the cursor to the divider to be moved.

   It displays for adjusting a row divider and for a column divider.

1. Drag the divider as desired.

   You cannot drag it beyond its neighbor. Avoid placing dividers so they cut through text.

1. Press the Ctrl key as you drag a divider if you want to move it only for a single cell.

To insert column dividers in a table zone:

1. Click the Insert column dividers tool in the Image toolbar.

The mouse pointer becomes .

1. Click at the location in a table zone where you want to place a column divider.

2. Press the Ctrl key as you click to place the divider in the current row only.

To insert row dividers in a table zone:

1. Click the Insert row dividers tool in the Image toolbar.

The mouse pointer becomes .

1. Click at the location in a table zone where you want to place a row divider.

2. Press the Ctrl key as you click to place the divider in the current column only.

3. Avoid placing a divider so it cuts through text.

• Press TAB to change between insert column dividers and insert row dividers.

To remove row or column dividers from a table zone:

1. Click the Remove dividers tool in the Image toolbar.

   The mouse pointer becomes  for deleting a row or for deleting a column divider.

2. Click on a single divider you want to delete.

3. Press the Ctrl key as you click to delete the divider in the current cell only.

4. You can place two columns of data in a single column by deleting the divider between the columns.

To remove all row and column dividers from a table zone:

1. Click the Place/Remove all dividers tool in the Image toolbar.

2. Move the cursor into a table zone without dividers. It becomes . Click it.

   Dividers will be auto-detected and placed.

1. Move the cursor into a table zone with dividers. It becomes . Click it.

   All dividers will disappear and the cursor shape changes to .

2. Click again with to have dividers automatically redetected.
