  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking And Firefox and Thunderbird And Other Issues...

It would be a mistake for me to retract any of the information I presented in my previous announcement.  But there are some things that I do want to say about the Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech program.

    1.  Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred 10 does have a very high degree of compatibility with Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, as well as Outlook express and IE 7.  I have gone through extensive testing over the last few weeks and found this to be the case.

    2.  Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred 10 also gives the user the ability to have multiple dictation sources with any given user.  So, for example, in my case, I have two dictation sources.  I have a USB desktop microphone, made by Logitech, which is basically a power microphone.  I have classified that microphone as a desktop array microphone in my main user profile.  Additionally, I am using the Microsoft life chat headset microphone, which is a USB wireless microphone as my secondary dictation source.  I have classified my Microsoft life chat headset microphone as a standard USB microphone.  And I have done this because it does in fact, require, that the transmitter/receiver for the headset microphone, be plugged into the USB port of my machine, and the headset microphone basically operates off of that receiver/transmitter.

In this way, Dragon NaturallySpeaking gives a great deal more functionality to the user then any other speech program.  And I have to say under those circumstances it is well worth the $200-$250 for the program.

    3.  I of course will not retract my stand regarding customer service.  Because I find it totally and completely unacceptable, floor any company, regardless of who they are, or how good they think they are, to be charging $19 per phone call for customer service, and up to $10 simply if someone wants to write them an e-mail.  That is not customer service.  That is basically gouging.

But aside from that, meaning aside from the customer service issue, Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred 10, is truly one of the best speech program's I have ever used in my entire life.  And I have been able to develop my user profile in such a way so that with multiple dictation sources, I have the ability to interface with just about any text entry area in my computer system.

    4.  There is still a tremendous amount of compatibility issues between Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred 10, and IE 8.  But as I have already presented in my Journal, I have a benchmark test of IE 8, that has been certified by two IT professionals, who are in fact prepared to take the results into any court of law, and to then demand that Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft Corp., and Microsoft Corp., the forest, in the court, to either prove that the benchmark test of IE 8 is false, or if they are not able to do that, they need to be found guilty of misrepresentation with intent to defraud, which is in fact a felony under federal law.

My assessment of IE 8 is that it is actually one of the worst web browsers that was ever made in the history of computing.  The only program, produced by Microsoft Corp., that is worse than IE 8, is Windows Vista.

So I do not really believe that Dragon NaturallySpeaking/nuance Corp., is to be faulted, because Dragon NaturallySpeaking as a very low degree of compatibility with IE 8.  Because IE 8 is being looked on, by the general market, as not only an albatross program, but a program that has so many compatibility issues, that most people are simply throwing it in the trash in order to use any other browser that can possibly find.  And of course to that end, I have almost 2 dozen news stories showing clearly that IT professionals in the enterprise section of the American business community, are now offering Firefox as an alternative browser, because IE 8 is been having so many problems.  Additionally, I have documentation showing very clearly that Steve Ballmer and Microsoft Corp. are being sued not only in Europe and Asia but in the United States.  With several lawsuits, because IE 8 as either ruined people's computers or because it is such a piece of garbage as far as a web browser.

So again, I did those circumstances, I do not believe that Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred 10/nuance Corp., should be faulted because Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred 10 is having any kind of real compatibility issues with IE 8 areas and again, that is because IE 8, for the most part, has compatibility issues with almost all the programs they are out on the market that are not specifically Microsoft, or Microsoft sanctioned.

I do not want anyone to misinterpret my feelings about nuance Corp.  I am very happy and grateful at nuance Corp. has created Dragon NaturallySpeaking, because Dragon NaturallySpeaking is truly a wonderful speech recognition program.  My only real issue with Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred 10/nuance Corp., is that nuance Corp. does not really understand the value of customer service.  But other than that I have to say that my findings over the last few weeks have shown very clearly that Dragon NaturallySpeaking has a very high degree of compatibility with Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird, as well as with IE 7 and Outlook express and Outlook.

    5.  With regard to the software called, " open office " , Dragon NaturallySpeaking has, as a result of my experience testing Dragon NaturallySpeaking with open office over the last two years, Dragon NaturallySpeaking preferred 10 has between 80% and 90% compatibility with open office.  And that is more than acceptable since OpenOffice is the Microsoft office alternative.

I wanted to put this Journal entry up as an announcement so that people at nuance Corp. would know that I basically do not hate them.  I just do not like the way that they do customer service.  I am extremely happy with their product and I will probably continue buying Dragon NaturallySpeaking products for the duration of whatever life I have left.

  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 And IE 8 Continued

To begin with, after testing Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 without having the text-to-speech module installed, I can say that Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 didn't operate very well.

    1.  If you tried to perform auto optimization, without the text-to-speech module installed, you had to restart the user in order to continue after the optimization was complete.

    2.  Additionally, sometimes when you are trying to correct a word or phrase, the correction box would not be properly displayed.

This convinces me that the text-to-speech module is extremely necessary for the program to perform adequately, under most circumstances.

But the real issue is IE 8.  When you're trying to use a newsreader and IE 8, every time you go to a different news feed, IE 8 has to regenerate the voice commands, because of how Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, relates to IE 8.  And so as a result, within a matter of minutes, because IDD opens up multiple copies of IE 8 onto your system for every tab you open, IE 8 can actually end up consuming almost 99% of your system resources as a result of how it relates to Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10.

And according to all of the source notes that nuance is providing, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is primarily compatible with Outlook express and IE 7.  So Dragon NaturallySpeaking, by its own, product specifications, is not compatible with IE 8, or Firefox, or Opera, or Safari, or Google chrome.  And so as a result, with the extremely problematic IE 8, whereby it is basically a system hog, people using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 by then forced to use IE 7, or Firefox which has approximately 90% compatibility, as does Thunderbird.  But again, Firefox and Thunderbird are not listed in the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 datafile pursuant to compatibility.  And that of course means that nuance Corporation is basically saying Dragon NaturallySpeaking was not made to work with Firefox or Thunderbird and that any functionality is purely coincidental.  And so other words, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is strictly compatible only with Outlook express and IE 7.

So of course my suggestion is that instead of trying to use, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 with IE 8 bit users opt out for either IE 7 and Outlook express or Firefox and Thunderbird.  Because at this particular juncture, there is virtually only marginal compatibility between Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 and IE 8.

    1.  If you tried to issue the minimize window command in IE 8, using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, IE 8 will crash and your system as a potential crashing as well.

    2.  The, go home, command, does not work at all in IE 8.  Most of the browser commands that Dragon NaturallySpeaking as do not work in IE 8.  The page Commandments, that normally work in almost all browsers, meaning universal page commands and Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 do work in IE 8.  But the fact is that IE 8 has so many compatibility issues with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 that basically is not really a program that anyone should use.  Furthermore, one has to wonder why nuance Corporation is not providing more compatibility with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 and other browsers and other e-mail programs.  I mean, if you're going to spend over $200 for speech program you would think that you would have more compatibility with that speech program than simply being forced to use either IE 7 and Outlook stress and nothing else.

I realize that Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 just came out with a beta version of their software that's going to be compatible with blackberries.  But having compatibility with blackberries does not give Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 compatibility with Safari, or Opera, or Google chrome, or Firefox, or Thunderbird.  So I guess my point is that it lets Corporation and Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 really want to impress people they need to give the customer more options than simply forcing the customer to use IE 7 and Outlook express and not using anything else, because while Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is demanding that people use IE 7 and Outlook express, Microsoft, at the same time, is moving forward with their demand that people use IE 8.  And so the user of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, is pretty much caught in the crosshairs, where they have to decide how they are going to make Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 work with IE 8 when the compatibility is only about 40%.

I mean of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is actually supposed to help users who are disabled.  As one aspect of the functionality of the program, then Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 indolence Corporation are basically failing because they are giving the disabled user very little choice and very little help.  As far as being able to adapt Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 to the extremely competitive.  And rather vicious software competition is going on in the computer world regarding browsers and e-mail programs.  So once again, it doesn't mean that I hate nuance Corporation and Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10.  But I am certainly not really impressed with the return I am getting on my investment of over $200 to nuance Corporation.

    1.  I get absolutely no customer support whatsoever, unless I'm willing to pay $19 for every single telephone call I make, and over $10 for every e-mail I send.  And that's not customer support.  So therefore I have no customer support with the product I've purchased.

    2.  I have virtually no functionality with the program.  I've purchased.  Meaning I spent over $250 for this program and the only web browser is compatible with his IE 7 and the only e-mail program.  It's compatible with is Outlook express.  So of course, then I'm paying $250 for speech program that basically gives me no compatibility with most of the other web browsers on the market and with none of the other e-mail programs that are on the market as well.  As I said before, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 has real issues with Incredimail, and Windows live mail.  Also, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 has real issues with Windows live messenger and AOL messenger and ICQ.  So once again, I'm paying $250 for speech program, and the only real functionality I'm getting from that program is that it will work with WordPad and it will work with Outlook express and it will work with IE 7.  But I only get marginal functionality with Firefox and Thunderbird and I get hardly any functionality at all with Windows live mail and Incredimail.  So again I get virtually no functionality other than IE 7 and Outlook express.  So I guess again, my question really is, why did I spend $250 for speech program when it basically is compatible with anything other than IE 7 and Outlook express?  What makes Dragon NaturallySpeaking such a good program, where they can demand $250 for their product when they get no customer support and they don't make their products compatible with anything other than IE 7 and Outlook express?

I realize that the people at nuance Corporation are extremely arrogant and elitist and that they basically don't really give a damn about the users of their product and they don't really give a damn about customers because if they did they would not be charging $19 for a phone call for customer support and they would not be charging $10 for an e-mail to customer support.  So the message that nuance Corporation is sending the general public is *** you.  Buy our product and go away and leave us alone because we really don't give a damn about you, we just want your money and then we want you to go away.

That's basically the message that Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 and nuance Corporation is sending the general public.  And again they're producing a product that has virtually no compatibility with any of these other web browsers or any of the other software that's out on the market.  So again, they're demanding that people pay them over $200 for their speech program when what the customers getting in return is no customer support at all.  And they're getting a program that is not functional with IE 8 and is not functional with Windows live mail and is not functional with Windows Incredimail and is not functional with Windows live messenger and is not functional very well with Firefox or Thunderbird or Google chrome or Safari or Opera.  So again, the issue that comes up as to whether Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is actually committing misrepresentation with intent to defraud, which is a felony under federal law, or are they just simply stupid bastards who don't give a damn about customers at all?

And I can say that with fairly good certainty because every time I've ever talk to any marketing people from Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 they were much more interested in the money they could get from me than they were in the usability of the product they were trying to sell me.

So once again I have to say that in my own estimation, the nuance Corporation and the makers of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 are some of the most asinine people I've ever encountered in the software industry of the computer world.  And just for the record, I've been installing software and computers since I was 16 years old.  And that's over 42 years.  So I'm not some novice web five years.  I'm fully versed in COBOL and FORTRAN and DOS programming languages, and I've been an information specialist and communications analysts and financial analyst and profitability analyst for 42 years as well.  Or it I'm also fully trained and Newtonian metaphysics quantum mechanics and quantum physics.  I read 5000 words per minute with a photographic memory.  So when I talk about computers, I know exactly what I'm talking about.  Furthermore I've owned four of my own companies and then partner with my father for 25 years prior to 1975 in our own company as well.

So like I said before, if nuance Corporation wants to impress me.  They have failed because the only thing they've shown me is that they basically don't give a damn about the customers at all.  No one is Corporation basically cares about doing one thing getting your money and then telling you to *** off and go away.  Because that's basically how they treat the user.

Unfortunately Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 anyone's Corporation is very similar to Microsoft.  A bunch of ruthless God damned bastards who don't give a damn about the users and don't give a damn about customers and all they care about is making sure that they can push you around and demand your money and then tell you to *** off and go away.  So the user really doesn't have very much choice as far as being able to get a good speech program that they can use with their computer systems, because Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is trying to be another Microsoft Corporation where they are trying to destroy every bit of the competition that's out there.

So the user really doesn't have any choice as far as trying to get a good speech program, because Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 and nuance Corporation is making sure that any other competitor is made to look stupid.  And they basically doing everything they can to destroy every other company that might be a competitor to their own company.  So the user is left being forced to take Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 and the horrible customer service, which is no customer service and having to shell out over $200 for their product, while the same time getting virtually nothing in return.

When I was growing up with my father in our linen supply business include all I'll and the company behaved like nuance Corporation with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, we simply call them criminals.  And usually those kinds of companies were found guilty of misrepresentation with intent to defraud, which is a felony in the United States.  Unfortunately the nature of business in the United States has changed.  Because now it is really customary for the businesses of the United States disprove the customer as much as possible and give the customer no customer service.  That's the norm these days so under those circumstances Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 nuance Corporation are doing a great job, because as I said, their attitude is to the customer, give me your money and then *** off and go away.

What's really sad is that these stupid bastards at nuance Corporation who think they're so much better than other people really are not better than anyone.  They're not that smart, because the reality is the Dragon NaturallySpeaking information module is not really that complicated or complex.  It's just been prioritized and privatized to such an extent, whereby competition doesn't really have the same opportunity to garner as much of the market is nuance Corporation and Dragon NaturallySpeaking hands by virtue of the racketeering tactics they use.

So that's basically my experience with IE 8 and Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 and like I said before, I'm left wondering why the hell I paid $250 for a product that gives me no customer service and has virtually no compatibility with anything other than IE 7 and Outlook express.  That's not a good investment that's been basically standing near and being robbed by the nuance Corporation and Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 and basically cheated with their misrepresentation and false advertising and their lies.

  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking And IE 8

I have been able to discover the major issue between Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 and Windows XP and IE 8. The issue I'm talking about is with the text-to-speech module. The other day I kept trying to figure out why, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 was such a memory hog. And why was actually causing so many crashes in the Windows XP service pack 3 operating system environment. What I basically found was that the text-to-speech module was taking up most of the memory allocation room in the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 program. So basically what I did was, to remove the text-to-speech module from the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 program. How I did this was rather simple. I closed down my Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech program. So that it was still loaded onto my computer, but it was not actively running. Once I did that, I been RAM. The setup program. Once again. When I ran the setup program I was given three choices. One was to modify the program. Another was to repair the program and the third was to remove the program. So I chose to modify the program. Once I did that I was presented with a menu where I could remove the text-to-speech module. And that is exactly what I did. Once I removed the text-to-speech module that memory allocation use for Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 went down or 359 megs to approximately 6.8 megs. And that is an incredible amount of savings, regarding memory use. Furthermore, buyer, reducing the memory allocation of Dragon NaturallySpeaking by that substantial savings, IE 8, was able to operate in Windows XP, while still using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, without being overburdened by the text-to-speech module. As far as program calls within IE 8, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 will make all of the customary page calls within IE 8. But the main browsing commands in IE 8 do not function under any circumstances. I surmise, the and you probably could write a new browser commands for IE 8 yourself. Or you could modify the existing browsing commands. If you chose to. But as is, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 will not execute any of the browsing commands in IE 8. Other than the, close window command. If you attempt to use the minimize window command in IE 8, IE 8 will crash. So again, this means the Dragon NaturallySpeaking, and the nuance Corp. as a great deal of work left to do, in making their around, Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10, more compatible with IE 8. Furthermore, I had to do all of this work on my home being legally blind in my right eye, and not being able to use my hands hardly at all because they are deformed. But then, the reason for my not being able to get any assistance in resolving this matter is because the nuance Corp. does not believe in customer service. If you attempt to send an e-mail to nuance Corp., every e-mail you send them will cost you, the user, and/or the customer, approximately $10. If you want to make a phone call to Dragon NaturallySpeaking, it will cost you $19 for every phone call you make. So obviously when a software company takes the attitude that you are going to have to pay $10 just to write them an e-mail or $19 just to make a phone call to them, the software company is basically telling users that they don't want to contact them at all. They want you to give them your money. And then they want to go away. Because they don't want you to be associating with them in any way. They just want to get your money for the product and then they want you to leave them alone. So that's really the message that the nuance Corp. is sending to its customer. They're basically telling the customers, give us your money. But then please go away and don't bother us don't contact us and don't talk to us because we want nothing to do with you. So of course being given that kind of extremely unfriendly and unprofessional attitude on the part of nuance Corp. and having owned for businesses in my own life and then partner with my father and our own business for 25 years, I have a much different attitude toward customers, which is not the same as nuance Corp., which is basically that they hate customers and they don't really give a damn about their customers because all they want to do is get people's money and then they want the people to go away. So seeing as how I have corrective lenses that give me the ability to see my computer screen quite clearly, and because I have been installing computers and software for 25 years, I am extremely adept at writing software code. And I was able to do the investigative work necessary to discover that Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is extremely top-heavy as a software program as a result of the text-to-speech module. And so of course that being said, unless you are legally blind, where you can't see the screen at all, you don't need the text-to-speech module. If you are able to see the screen and can read the screen on your computer. Then you really don't need the text-to-speech module. And under those circumstances, I would advise all of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 customers, who are not legally blind, where they can not read computer screen, to get rid of the text-to-speech module. Because it really is one of the major stumbling blocks to getting Dragon NaturallySpeaking to operate correctly in the Windows XP environment. It is unfortunate that the nuance Corp. doesn't have smarter programmers to realize that they are basically alienating a lot of their customers as a result of their very arrogant and elitist mentality pursuant to customer service. It also is unfortunate that the Dragon NaturallySpeaking, nuance Corp. people do not understand that they are basically ruining their customer base by not issuing an update to the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 program so that the intent program will work with more browsers than simply IE 7. But then of course from what I can tell about nuance Corp., is that they basically don't give a damn about customers of all and they don't give a damn about being nice to people because as far as they're concerned they just want your money. And once they have that their attitude to you is for them to tell you simply to go to hell. So again, I have no real problem with that. I've done business with a lot of businesses and this is professionals who are just as horrible to do business with as the nuance Corp. and Dragon NaturallySpeaking people. So I have no problem with the nuance Corp. basically being so arrogant and so elitist that they basically don't care about their customers of all. That doesn't really bother me, what does bother me is that the nuance Corp. does not have the integrity or the honesty to come forward and let their customers know about the text-to-speech module so that the customers will not have to go through all of the system crashes and all the heartache and all of the hardship that I had to go through in order to locate this one problem in Dragon NaturallySpeaking that was causing so many software issues on my machine. And I know that if it was causing issues on my machine. That was causing issues on other people's machines as well. Like I said before, I really do wonder why it is I had to pay almost $300 for my Dragon NaturallySpeaking program. When it will not work very well with Firefox. It won't work with Apple's Safari. It won't work with Google chrome. It won't work with Opera. And it barely works with IE 8. It also won't work with Windows live Mail. It also barely works at all with Windows live messenger. It won't work with the Grenville. And it barely works with Thunderbird. So with all these programs of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 will not work with or barely will work with all, one wonders how nuance Corp. has the nerve to charge over $200 for Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 when the amount of programs it works with is extremely small and at the same time when nuance Corp. refuses to provide any kind of meaningful customer service? Like I said before, I would suggest of all Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 customers are not actually physically need to have the text-to-speech module installed on their computers, immediately dumped that module meaning to delete that module from the Dragon NaturallySpeaking software package by the procedure I've explained above. Because once you do that. The Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 program will work much better than you have ever been able to experience it before. It will be much less memory intensive. It will be much less intrusive on the system pursuant to using IE 8 and any other browser you might want to use. But the advise, if you use anything other than IE 7 or IE 8, the functionality the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 will have, will be extremely and severely reduced. Because like I said before, the only browser that Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 was designed to be used with, was IE7. It was not designed to be used with any other browser in the entire world. Other than IE 7. And functionality for any other browser in the entire world of in IE 7, was not tilt into the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 program. The only reason the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 happens to work partially with Firefox is because a lot of the program calls in Firefox are similar to IE7. But that's the only reason. And as a result of this entire experience I can to you with almost absolute certainty, that I probably will not pay any more money to nuance Corp. under any circumstances no matter what. I happen to know some speech pathologists in the United States on the western coast of the United States. And when it comes time for me to get a new speech program. I will not be going to the nuance Corp. I will be going to these trends my were speech pathologists. Because from what I understand there are a number of speech programs on the market. And none of them are is asinine to do business with is the nuance Corp. End of line....

  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking and IE 8

I have had nothing but problems with Dragon NaturallySpeaking and IE 8.  I'm not able to use IE 8 because of a huge major conflict with Dragon NaturallySpeaking.  Every time I try to use any of the normal browser calls in IE 8 the program crashes.  Additionally, when I'm using IE 8 and Dragon NaturallySpeaking together the memory consumption on my system becomes catastrophic to the point where between Dragon NaturallySpeaking and IE 8.  Almost 98% of my system resources are being used and I have over 2 GB of RAM.

I have had to go and use Firefox as a browser, which is not completely compatible with Dragon NaturallySpeaking nor is Dragon NaturallySpeaking completely compatible withthe Firefox browser.  So as a result.  I'm having to patch together functionality, because Dragon NaturallySpeaking while absolutely the best speech program in the world to be able to make it compatible with IE 8 so that IE 8 does not become a system albatross and basically destroy my system.  Furthermore Dragon NaturallySpeaking will not work wit Incredimail.  Nor will it work with Windows live Mail.  Any time there is a lot of Java code in the program that's running blog Dragon NaturallySpeaking is running, or a lot of graphics, Dragon NaturallySpeaking will not work for that program.

With Incredimail, Dragon NaturallySpeaking causes the program to hang and to crash repeatedly.  It does the same thing with Windows live Mail.  So my choices for e-mail programs to be able to use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking have become virtually nonexistent except for using Outlook express and Thunderbirdand this makes things very frustrating for me because I'm not able to use most of the software that's being offered on the market today, because Dragon NaturallySpeaking just is not compatible with any of it is not compatible with IE 8 and I have gone through over 1000 hours of trying to make Dragon NaturallySpeaking work effectively with IE 8.  I have had to rebuild my system.  Over 150 times due to conflicts between Dragon NaturallySpeaking and IE 8 and Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Incredimail and Dragon NaturallySpeaking and Windows live Mail and Dragon NaturallySpeaking and other programs.

If my hands were able to function better, which they're not, I would not be using Dragon NaturallySpeaking because I'm really tired of not being able to use the software that the software community and the Internet community is pressing me to use.  But at the same time that I'm not able to use because my speech program just has no compatibility with those programs.

I'm beginning to wonder why I spent so much money on Dragon NaturallySpeaking.  It's just not can be compatible with Firefox and it's not to be compatible with Opera and it's not to be compatible with Safari and it's not to be compatible with chrome and it's not to be compatible with IE 8., what is the point?

With all the money that awful Dragon NaturallySpeaking you would think that they would make their product, adaptable and compatible with Firefox with Apple Safari and with Google chrome and with Opera, and with Microsoft IE 8.  But Dragon NaturallySpeaking and nuance Corporation has not done that.  Because Dragon NaturallySpeaking is not compatible with Mozilla Firefox or with Apple Safari, or with Google chrome, or with Opera, or with IE 8 grade and I know because I have tested it with all of those browsers.  I am using Firefox, but again, Dragon NaturallySpeaking is only marginally compatible with Firefox and it is more compatible with Firefox than it is with IE 8 or any of the other browsers.  Why is that?

So, I wish that someone from nuance Corporation would explain to me why it is that I spent over $200 for this program when it's not compatible with any of the browsers that are coming out now?  And it's not compatible with most of the e-mail programs are out there either?  What am I paying for?

I really believe I deserve to have a refund for this product or I deserve to have some sort of compatibility patch or upgrade so that Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 will actually be compatible with IE 8 and these other browsers, because it's not now and you're making my life an absolute living hell because of all the extra work I have to go through just to be able to get anything done.

I really wish there was another speech program out there that have more compatibility than the very tiny small little compatibility that Dragon NaturallySpeaking as big as your program has hardly any compatibility with anything.

By the way, it's not compatible with Windows live messenger, because are the works at all with that program.  And it doesn't work very well with a number of other programs either and if you need for me to provide you a list with all the programs that it doesn't work well with I'll be more than happy to do so but I didn't want to do it right now because I thought it would be just too humiliating for you when you claim to be such know it alls about software...

    end of line....

  • Program Information

As promised, I have information about Dragon NaturallySpeaking, which I think could be useful to other Dragon NaturallySpeaking users

. To begin with, I was wrong when I said that the autotune feature was not working. It does work. However, there is a kind of procedure that people need to know about. When using Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10.

The training mechanism on Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10 is now so good that you do not need to do secondary or third training sessions. Once you do your initial training that is all you should do

. Because if you do any more training after the first training. Your secondary and auxiliary training sessions will, sometimes destroy the original training of the program.

    So that's the first procedure

. Secondly, after you've done your first training. You should not have the autotune function engaged immediately. Because how the program really works best, is that after you have done a certain amount of dictation. You save your user files. And then you run the optimization for your speech files, manually.

You should do this routinely every single day and every single time you are doing any dictation. For example, if you use Dragon NaturallySpeaking to dictate for perhaps one or two hours doing whatever you are doing, at the end of that time, you should then save your user files and then immediately optimize your user files

    .

Doing this repeatedly for a series of a few weeks works much better than the autotune feature

. I believe that it works better this way because the autotune feature is for the most part geared toward people who have a different dialect than strictly English-language.

The reason I say this is because I have been doing this particular procedure for the last several weeks and it works perfectly

. Two weeks ago I created four different users on my computer in order to test exactly what I'm talking about. And every single case, when I actually ran the optimization Wizard. After my immediate dictation the optimization work, more correctly than if I would have turned it on to autotune.

The Dragon NaturallySpeaking program is absolutely the best program for speech recognition I have seen in the 58 years I have been a lot

. And version number 10 is absolutely one of the best that I've ever used. I am explaining all of this that I have learned about the optimization Wizard because I believe that this will be of benefit to other users of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

    That is my absolute hope

. Being the type of personality that I am, I generally stick to myself so I don't really interact very well with other people. However I am extremely grateful to the people at Dragon NaturallySpeaking, meaning the nuance Corporation for their tremendous product and for giving me the opportunity to use this product so that I can be able to interact with my computer without having to use my hands which have become quite damaged.

    I hope this information helps.

    Warmly,

  • There And Back Again...

I realize that I have been a very abrupt manner many times

    .

I apologize for my possibly being rude at times, because it's really not my nature

. For one I'm in a great deal of pain as a result of my disability. And my bone and nerve damage. But what I have done is gone back to using Dragon NaturallySpeaking because I have resolved a lot of the issues. And I have a lot of information to share with things I have discovered how to make Dragon NaturallySpeaking work better for everyone.

And I will share those over the next few days, but I've been having some difficulty physically so I'm going to relax for the rest of the day and perhaps do a lengthy explanation of what's going on with Dragon NaturallySpeaking tomorrow.

But I did want to take a moment and to apologize to everyone here at nuance for my abruptness

. Dragon NaturallySpeaking is truly a program that is saving my life. And I cannot begin to explain how grateful I am.

    I'll be back....

  • Good-bye

After almost 10 years of using dragon naturallyspeaking I am terminating my use of the product. The latest version has crashed my system to  many times. And it has major issues with IE 8 and with various CGI programs. I mean, in addition to that, the auto tuning function makes you have to retrain the program almost every few days. And it does not work very well with firefox. And it does not work very well with Incredimail and it does not work very well with various registry cleaners that I use in order to maintian system security. And it's way to system intensive... so... I have uninstalled the product and I will not be using any speech program... if my hands fail, I'll stop using my computer or buy a better program than Drgaon NaturalySpeaking.

Additionally, Nuance i the only company I have encountered in 42 years of being a financial analyst that charges the HORRIBLE rates just for sending an email question to a technician.

If I had more time I would have Nuance investigated for possible Internet Fraud due to their charging policies. But I really don't give a damn if Nuance wants to act like a jerk. It's NOT MY problem...

So good-bye and I hope that anyone who is using the product has better luck with it than I have had... for me it's been nothing short of a constant NIGHTMARE...

    End of Line...

  • Limitations

This is nothing that anyone really has to be too concerned about, but I was able to locate the problem which caused my Dragon NaturallySpeaking user files to become corrupted. What basically happened was that I installed IE 8 after I installed Dragon NaturallySpeaking

. Now where this might not be a problem in the Windows Vista environment. It was a problem in the Windows XP environment. And so as a result, the speech files for my user in Dragon NaturallySpeaking were in fact corrupted.

I'm not going to apologize for my frustration with regard to using a speech program. No one likes to become old or feeble, and no one likes to have to deal with a terminal disability. And I'm no different than anyone else. I don't like getting old and I certainly don't like having to deal with a terminal disability, which is what I'm dealing with every day

. And I certainly don't like the fact that my hands and my arms hurt so badly whenever I use the keyboard that I basically have no choice whatsoever but to use my speech program.

And as I've said before, and I mean this, the Dragon NaturallySpeaking speech program, you literally the Cadillac of speech program's. This is because it is better than any other speech program I have ever used. My frustration is not so much would Dragon NaturallySpeaking inasmuch as my frustration is with using a speech program at all and especially with my being terminally disabled.

However, that being said, I have corrected the problems with regard to Dragon NaturallySpeaking and I don't see any further problems taking place.

For those who understand my frustration and my state of mind. Then there is really no need for any further explanation

. For those who do not understand no explanation will suffice.

    Until next time....

  • I am DONE...

I am done with the Dragon Naturally speaking program. I have used Dragon for the past 5 years and it has given me nothing but trouble. I have had to spend at least 4 to 5 hours every single week doing nothing but training. And this morning it crashed again and then wiped out all of my user files.

Nuance needs to get real. THE TIME IS NO LONGER WHERE THE SOFTWARE COMPANIES CAN TELL THE USER  TO PUT UP AND SHUT UP AND TAKE WHAT WE ARE GIVEN. THE TIME IS NOW WHERE THE USER IS TELLING THE COMPANIES TO SHUT UP AND GIVE US BETTER PRODUCT OR GO TO HELL... AND That's what I amt telling Dragon naturally speaking...

I have removed dragon from my system and I will NOT use it again until Nuance gets it right. For now... I would rather die than to go through anymore wasted time trying to make their product work. I have used it in 4 different operating systems and on 3 different computers. And the result is always the same... it does not work hardly well at all. There are always problems.

My message to Nuance is simple and clear... write me an email when you finally get it right. Untill then... DON'T BOTHER ME!

  • Program update

Originally when I started posting here, I said that the auto tuning feature was making it difficult for the database to continue to be recognized accurately

. But after I have reinstalled Dragon NaturallySpeaking on my system, meaning that I now have a much cleaner installation, the auto tuning feature is working just fine.

So I wanted to make sure that I clarified that

. There is one other thing that I did want to mention.

There seems to be a conflict between the runtime extra program for Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 and certain web widgets

. For example, there is a radio web widget that if you try to launch it in Internet Explorer, specifically in either IE 7 or IE 8, you get an error condition that says that trying to launch the radio was committing an illegal function call.

And this only happens when Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is running

. After extensive testing, I have found that this is because of the C. runtime routine. That is part of the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 program. I do not believe that this is a major issue or problem. Because in reality, the benefits from Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 far outweigh any of the minor software conflicts that are taking place as a result of the program being used. Because in reality, I have never used a program that is so absolutely fantastic as Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10.

I did try for about five hours, as a matter of comparison

, the Microsoft Windows Vista speech engine. And the Microsoft Windows Vista speech engine is so terrible that it basically didn't recognize its own microphone, let alone that it's recognition ability was virtually nonexistent.

It also doesn't have very much functionality as a speech program because it is extremely limited as to what text Windows it will in fact relate to.

So again I have to say that Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 is absolutely the premiere speech recognition program and it is literally like the Rolls-Royce of speech program's.

Anyhow, that's basically all I wanted to say for this morning because the program is going very well.

    Until next time...

  • Musical Microphones

Originally when I started using Dragon NaturallySpeaking, I started out with a desktop microphone. And that went along fairly well for a period of months and some I began to have difficulty with my breathing due to my only having one lung. And then of course as a result of my being a throat cancer survivor, I began to have difficulty with the desktop microphone. Recognizing my dictation, because it had to be very close to my bedside, which was making it not only uncomfortable for me, but also causing me because it wasn't next to my mouth, to have to increase my volume to speak and do my dictations. And this was again making me run out of air and get out of breath.

So going through all of the different conflicts with my computer programs that I've had, I finally got to the point where I understand that what's really going on with my computer is that IE 8 was causing a problem with the Windows Vista system because the encryption for IE 8 is different than the encryption for Windows Vista to a certain small degree. And normally that difference in the two types of encryption wouldn't make any difference. But when you throw into the mix. The Dragon NaturallySpeaking program and all the other programs are running on this one computer system at the same time in order for this computer system to not only be my television but also my office; the level of software conflicts began to increase.

So eventually what happened was that I went back to using the Bluetooth microphone as of today, because it is more accurate for my dictations and it's more convenient, because wherever I move in the house I can go ahead and do my dictations without any problem because the microphone is going to be with me and because it has a range of 38 feet, this is going to give me more ability to be able to do my dictations more accurately, no matter whether I'm getting a cup of coffee or if I'm having to change position in bed.

Realizing that my dictation, and the kind of dictations I do, regarding Dragon NaturallySpeaking, are more complex than what most people use a speech program for; I am maintaining the kinds of Journal notations regarding my use of Dragon NaturallySpeaking in order to be of service and to help other speech program users in addition to people who use Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

So in any event, I've retailer my entire computer system and gotten rid of all of the software conflicts so that I can actually go forward and try to be able to do my dictations more accurately and with less problems. And the Bluetooth microphone is actually going to help me with that, because it's going to give me the ability to be able to do my dictations freely without any further problems on the part of the system or Dragon NaturallySpeaking or being limited by the fact that I have to be by the desktop microphone in order to be able to do my dictations.

And that's give me even more increased ability to do my dictations more accurately and more succinctly and more universally. Because this way, I will be able to do my dictations and not be trapped in bed and I can get a few other things done at the same time I'm doing my dictation.

So I don't want anyone to think under any circumstances, that the Bluetooth microphone is inappropriate for Dragon NaturallySpeaking because nothing really could be further from the truth. The Bluetooth microphone is actually one of the best microphone cytosine to be used for Dragon NaturallySpeaking. And the reason being, is because the Bluetooth microphone actually does give you the ability to be able to do the dictations from almost any place on the first floor of where you're living. Because the Bluetooth microphone has a range of 38 feet. The only limitation to using the Bluetooth microphone, is basically that it has to charge of only eight hours. But for most people using Bluetooth microphones in business, that's not really a problem. And the reason it's not is because most people are only going to be using the Dragon NaturallySpeaking Bluetooth microphone system for a period of eight hours while they're at work. And the best Bluetooth phone I have found to be able to use what Dragon NaturallySpeaking truly is either the Logitech Bluetooth microphone. Or, the one that I use, which is the Microsoft light chat Bluetooth microphone. But the live chat Bluetooth microphone that I use from Microsoft, is more for MSN messenger and being able to do Internet calls. But it works very well with the Dragon NaturallySpeaking program.

And to illustrate what I'm talking about, while I was doing this entire dictations I have gone all the way through the first floor using my cane, to get a cup of coffee, and to move something out of the way for my wife while she's out of the house for a moment.

The only reason I think that I have vacillated so much regarding the use of microphones and Dragon NaturallySpeaking has been because of personal physical comfort. But a lot of times my physical comfort is being defined in such a way so that it's hard for most people to understand what I mean by physical comfort. Because I am never really comfortable, because I'm in constant pain. And I have been in constant pain since I was 17 years old. So, that being said, physical comfort for me is not something that's quite as easy to achieve as it might be for other people. But again, the Dragon NaturallySpeaking program really does work fantastically. It's one of the best programs I've ever used and it really is a lifesaver for me. And I am totally and completely behind using the Likud microphone now, because it really is the only one that makes sense for me to use because it's not something where I have to lean close to the desktop microphone in order to be heard or in order for my dictations to be more accurate. If for example, I'm really tired I can simply leaned back in bed and with the headset microphone on my ear. I can go ahead and do my dictations without any problem whatsoever.

I am going to be copying this entire journal entry to the Dragon NaturallySpeaking blog that I keep because I believe it's important for this information to get out there. Plus I'm also going to copy this information to all of the other five journals that I maintain socially in addition to this main journal that I keep here on my own website.

So that's basically I wanted to say about Dragon NaturallySpeaking and my new Bluetooth microphone.

The only thing that I would add is that again auto tuning, which is a feature of Dragon NaturallySpeaking where you can set the Dragon NaturallySpeaking program to optimize your speech files. When you are not using the program. This feature for some reason, tends to degrade the recognition ability of my speech profile after my profile goes through auto tuning. I am not sure why this happens, but ever since I've ever used Dragon NaturallySpeaking the auto tuning function as always degraded, to a certain extent, the recognition ability of the Dragon NaturallySpeaking program to recognize that dictation or the speech patterns that I had originally trained the program to be aware of.

And I'm adding this last piece of information in the hopes that people of Dragon NaturallySpeaking might understand what I'm talking about and be able to address this particular issue either with me or with other users where it may become necessary.

    That's about all I have.

  • changing lanes

Since I wrote the earlier posting about my microphone usage and Dragon NaturallySpeaking, I have discovered that the Bluetooth microphone from Microsoft was actually not picking up my voice has accurately as the Logitech desktop microphone.  So for that reason, and also because it is a little uncomfortable for me to wear on my year, and in addition to that, because it has a time limit on its use, I have gone back to using the Logitech desktop microphone for my primary recording input source for my Dragon NaturallySpeaking program.

Actually, the Logitech desktop microphone has worked very well throughout the years.  For me to use my Dragon NaturallySpeaking.  I have been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking is a speech program for approximately 5 or six years.  During that time, I've only used a headset wants other than this time with the Microsoft live chat microphone.  Generally, the corded headset microphones work very well because of the dynamics of how the recorded sound is going through the soundcard.  And that is one of the advantages of the Logitech desktop microphone is that it's going to the soundcard, rather than through a transmitter, which is held the Microsoft life  chat works.

On my machine, which is a Dell XPS 410, I am running Windows Vista and Windows Firefox and in addition I'm running OpenOffice.  And then I'm using Incredimail has my e-mail program.  So with all of that type of various programming on my computer system.  In addition to the fact that I'm running a win TV card in my computer system, this does put a certain degree of strain on some of the peripheral aspects of my system.  And one of those peripheral aspects of course is the speech program.  But all in all, Dragon NaturallySpeaking as I've said before is absolutely the Cadillac and the most significant amazing advancement in speech recognition I have ever used in my life and it literally does save my life every single day.

And so, I just wanted to say that.

I haven't put anything up as a message per se, yet.  What I didn't want to put this up as a comment so that people could actually take a look at this and decide whether or not it deserves mention as an actual journal entry in the Nuance group blog here.

    Onwards...

  • faux pas

I just wanted to say that I had a wonderful conversation with a very nice gentleman from Nuance Corporation today

. Unfortunately I had just gotten a couple of calls that were harassing nature. And since I didn't recognize the number, I was rather abrupt on the phone.

Additionally, my mood gets a little sour

, because I'm sort of running out of time due to how my terminal disability is advancing. And in addition, the level of pain I have associated with my disability is becoming severe to the point where I'm not always as light and bouncy as I would like to be. So I hope that this very nice gentleman who called me about Dragon NaturallySpeaking today will understand and I hope you will accept my apology.

Dragon NaturallySpeaking for me is a program that is extremely important

. My dictations with Dragon NaturallySpeaking file the lines of financial and informational analysis. And in addition to deal with the field of stellar mechanics, Newtonian metaphysics, and quantum physics, as these fields apply, and/or relate to, electromagnetic field interaction, pursuant to sub particle sequencing. And as electromagnetic field interaction and sub particle sequencing, relates to global warming meteorologically displayable events. In addition to other environmental changes, pursuant to sub particle activity at the neutrionic and psitronic levels. So naturally I need a speech program that is going to be able to keep up with the dictations and the articulations that are necessary, regarding the various types of scientific and financial extrapolations that I do.

With time being such a premium for me now because

, basically the time I have left becoming shorter and shorter due to how my terminal disability is progressing; I don't really have the time to deal with a speech program, that is going to be so much effort that I would have to spend more time getting it to work, then being able to do the dictations I need to do. What Dragon NaturallySpeaking. It only takes me. Perhaps one training every couple of days to keep everything in line.

I don't always share for a while with other people because of how uncomfortable my life is

. But please know that I appreciate that this Journal is here for Dragon NaturallySpeaking users to be able to share information with other people. And I hope that what I am sharing here will be of value to those who used this extremely good product.

In closing, I just would like to thank

Nuance Corporation for their tremendous assistance in helping me to be able to complete some of the very important work that I am doing before I don't have the opportunity to do it anymore.

    With warm regards,

    Nicole Maschke
