Five winning stories will be selected by a panel of judges, and the winning entrants will each receive an Amazon Kindle 2 as well as Dragon NaturallySpeaking upgrades for three years.
I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking to send Twitter updates through experimental vocal interfaces. With sci-fi movies as inspiration, I tell the computer, "Computer, post an update to twitter saying that I'm posting a contest entry to Nuance". The computer replies, "It's published".
I use these interfaces to explore other possibilites such as solving basic math problems, converting measurements, and looking up the weather. Soon, I could be creating dynamic presentations with commands such as, "Computer show me Space" with stars instantly appearing on the screen.
Who knows, In the future I could ask the computer to "raise shields!". However, this is not a sci-fi movie. It's happening for real, thanks to Nuance.
