I began writing children’s and adult’s novels and freelance articles for online magazines in early 2006. Shortly thereafter, I found that I had developed Post Polio Syndrome, a slow recurrence of the dying nerves and muscle-weakness from polio as a child.

When I was first introduced to Dragon, three years ago, I used it in conjunction with manual typing. Since then, I have begun editing other authors’ novels and papers, and teaching classes in creative writing, all of which entail copious amounts of typing.

I relied on Dragon, more and more, to write my books and do freelancing as my condition worsened, and I no longer had full use of both of my arms. By that time, I had also developed carpel-tunnel syndrome. Now, for the past two years, I’m at the point of having to use Dragon completely, with a bare minimum of manual typing, I find that with special training, this little dude can do almost anything. I use it for email, web surfing, Face booking, Yahoo chatting, Skyping, all kinds of messaging, and most anything else that takes typing.

I’m at the point where it does almost everything I require of it without stress or strain. Its spelling is superior to mine, (and I’m a great speller) it locates words and phrases without fail, and it even speaks cockatiel. The cage is close enough for the Dragon to pick up her chattering and whistles, and unfailingly, it types out the sounds she makes, and she answers.

It’s amazing and fun, as well as necessary. I recommend Dragon to anyone within earshot, even if they don’t do a lot of typing.
