Nuance - I Speak Dragon

Dragon NaturallySpeaking gave me a new life. One December 28, 1996, high blood pressure caused a vessel in in my brainstem to leak, leaving me with several disabilities, among them Cerebellum Ataxia. This condition causes the left side of my body to be clumsy. I no longer have the ability to write with my left hand. When I type, weak hand eye coordination causes my text to be full of typographical errors.

In 2004, I purchased a version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking and began to write a journal about the challenges that I faced after the stroke. Experiencing thoughts as they appear in text on the computer screen is like a breath of fresh air. I can now be productive for the rest of my life.  In 2007, an idea came to me to write a fiction novel. Since that time, I have purchased several upgrades of Dragon NaturallySpeaking and continue to write. With the aid of Dragon NaturallySpeaking I was even able to work for a living from 2004 until 2010. 

The more you dictate into Dragon NaturallySpeaking, the more accurate your text will be. Remember, your computer is a machine. It writes text as it listens to your voice. Dragon NaturallySpeaking does a good job of putting your words into context. Therefore, your writing will be more accurate if you think about what you say before you say it.

My involvement in writing has grown to the point where I have become involved with The Florida Writers Association and the Palm City Word Weavers (a local group of authors who critique each other's writing). All of this would not have been possible had I not found the advertisement for Dragon NaturallySpeaking back in 2004. The journey I am on now would never have begun.  I am able to explore, articulate and document my inner most thoughts, feelings and experiences. It is very therapeutic. I now spend every day working on my novel and hope to have it completed by the end of 2011. None of this would be possible without the aid of Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
