People often ask me about Voice Search on Google or Bing. I honestly think they’re cool and mark some great innovation in our industry. But I continue to hear people say they want to use voice to search iTunes for music. Or some say they want to search on Twitter because it’s up to the second information. And still others want to search Wikipedia where they can get detailed descriptions and insights. So – why not make that possible? We did. Today, we launched Dragon Search on the Apple App Store – an intuitive voice-enabled search application that transforms the way you’ll search for mobile content on the iPhone.
With Dragon Search, simply speak a search query – anything you want any way you want – and in seconds the Dragon Search Carousel displays results from a variety of sources like Google, iTunes, Twitter, Wikipedia, or YouTube. Bing and Yahoo are optional. For instance, you can say “Waking Up in Vegas by Katy Perry,” and Dragon Search will grab general search results for the song, bring up conversations about Katy Perry on Twitter, the video on YouTube, and the option to download the song on iTunes. With Dragon Search, you can cut through search engine clutter to immediately deliver the content you want, when you want it.
My wife and I took my 6-year old daughter to Mary Poppins last weekend. She loved the show. At home a few days later, I said “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” to Dragon Search on my iPhone. In just seconds, we had the YouTube video from the Broadway production in full audio / visual. For a 6-year old, it was magic. Then we bought the Mary Poppins album from iTunes.
Dragon Search is the ultimate complementary app to Dragon Dictation – so download it today at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/dragon-search/id341452950?mt=8. It’s free for a limited time on the U.S. App Store. And as always – let us know what you think about the application – we love your feedback and comments.
