Update on Dragon for Windows Vista 64 -- Frequently Asked Questions

Q. When will Dragon NaturallySpeaking supports Windows Vista 64 bit operating systems?
A. Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 10.1 will start shipping by the end of March 2009. This release of the software adds support for Windows Vista 64-bit operating systems. In addition, this version fixes some bugs that were identified in Dragon version 10.

Q. Which editions of Dragon will be released first?
A. Dragon Standard, Preferred and Professional Version 10.1 will be released by the end of March in English. Other editions and additional languages will be released over the next few months. Please check back here for additional detail.

Q. How will I know when it is available?
A. We will update this blog and our website when Dragon 10.1 is available.

Q. How much will it cost to upgrade?
A. Registered users of Dragon 10 Standard, Preferred, Professional and Legal Editions are eligible for a free download of version 10.1. Special upgrade pricing will be available for customers of previous versions of Dragon for a limited time.

Q. Is this a patch release or a full release?
A. Dragon 10.1 is a full release. That means that a full installation is required to upgrade to version 10.1.

Q. I don't have Vista 64, do I need this release?
A. Dragon 10.1 works on both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. The primary new functionality for Dragon 10.1 is support for Windows Vista 64. In addition, Dragon 10.1 fixes a number of bugs that were identified in Dragon version 10.

Q. Can I download the upgrade?
A. Yes. The download will be available for registered users of Dragon 10. Because this is a full release, the image size is quite large (almost 2 GB), so we only recommend downloads over high-speed Internet connections.

Q. Can I get the upgrade on a DVD?
A. Yes. We will make DVDs available for upgrade customers. There will be a small shipping and handling fee for the DVD.

Q. Will Dragon 10.1 work on windows XP 64?
A. Dragon 10.1 is not supported on windows XP 64. The only 64-bit operating system that was tested during our quality assurance process was Windows Vista 64. While it may install and operate on windows XP 64, we do not recommend that you attempt to do this since we cannot support that configuration.

Q. Will Dragon 10.1 work on Windows 7?
A. We have tested Dragon 10.1 on the current beta release of Windows 7 and it appears to operate adequately. However, since Windows 7 is beta software, we cannot support these configurations.

 Q. Where can I find information about Dragon Medical?
 A. Information about Dragon Medical can be found at http://www.nuance.com/healthcare/products/dragon_medical.asp

Peter,

Thanks for the update on the Vista 64 bit operating system version of Dragon.

We often get asked "Why use Windows Vista 64 bit over the 32 bit operating system?"

Basically, the 64-bit version of Vista can utilise more memory (RAM) than 32-bit versions of Windows. This helps minimise the time spent swapping processes in and out of memory by storing more of those processes in Random Access memory (RAM) rather than on the hard disk. This, in turn, can increase overall program performance.

32-bit operating systems can only access up to 4Gb RAM whereas the 64 bit version can utilise 128Gb+ RAM!

The bottom line is that NaturallySpeaking should be more responsive and faster when you are running many programs at once.

I hope this information is useful to other Dragon users and helps them to get their Dragons 'breathing fire'!

I have just purchased a copy of Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 Preferred but am unable to load it onto my computer because it has the Vista 64-bit operating system.  In one of the FAQ entries it mentiones that registered users of Dragon 10 will be eligible for a free download of 10.1.  How do I become a registered user if I am currently unable to load the program?

Peter,

Thanks for the information you've provided here.  It was by chance I found this blog.

Many of my readers will be glad to know this, but while I'm on the topic of letting people know...

Besides this blog, is Nuance going to release a broadcast email, newsletter or how are they going to advise all the customers that've been affected by this problem.

I'm just curious because I'm a registered user, I've contacted support a few times and emailed various parties and if I had received the February 2009 newsletter it would've been nice, but I didn't; must've been a setting when I signed up.

A lot of people [via emails] have reported to me that Nuance support has been taking their email address for notification. Does this mean Nuance is intention of emailing them when the new version is released?

Or is that a formality?

Thanks for posting the FAQ's.

Always a pleasure.

Regards,

Larry 'NapoleonAG' Henry

Hi Peter,

I add my thanks to you for the x64 information. I've been postponing my dns10 upgrade waiting for 64bit.

You wrote that only vista64 was tested, supported, and recommended, but will DNS10.1x64 be explicitly blocked from installing on xp-64 (the way 10 is on all 64bit systems)?

Please don't lock out us xp64 users.

Cheers,

1) Is the download available yet? (No shipping req'd for download). I have v 10 and want to use on 64-bit vista....

2) Is this DEFINITELY coming out "by the end of March? (ie it WON'T be put back).

2) Standard and Preferred English will be first, Pro English will be next.  All three of those releases should be available by the end of the month.  I can't guarantee that a giant meteor won't hit our servers, but unless that happens, we should be OK ;-)

It is rather a shame that the box did not specify that 10.0 will not install on a Vista 64 system.  It took way too much searching to discover this fact on your website, and i am disappointed that I have to wait for the upgrade.  Still, I will be able to obtain it for free.  However, I hope that it will install even though I was not able to install V. 10.0.  Furthermore, I have had to download the User Manual because the Manual on the DVD will not open with Acrobat 8.0 or Reader 8.0.  Very disturbing.

Is there a specific remover tool for 10.0 with SP1 installed available at the moment or will be any time later?

Is this actually a rewrite of the code, ie, it's a 64-bit version of DNS, or is this a compatibility release that will allow the 32-bit version of DNS to run on 64-Bit OSs?

Another multi-language question:

My wife, who is disabled, uses Dragon 9 Spanish on an old XP system.  She's able to use both English and Spanish because English is included.  We recently upgraded our machine to a Vista64 and need to upgrade Dragon asap.  Understanding that Spanish for Vista64 is still a few months away, is there any way that we can upgrade to the English now (for 10.1 release) and "add" the Spanish language pack when it becomes available?  This would help her get her work done.

Thanks

Hi Brian,

Dragon 10.1 will operate as a 32-bit application on Vista 64. The main benefits of this release include the ability to run on Vista 64 systems, and the ability to take advantage of larger amounts of memory that can be supported on Vista 64.

I hope that helps

Hello,

Like some of the others, I purchased version 10, along with a brand new laptop that had Vista 64 bit processor.   Bought everything on 3/18.  Tried to load the program tonight, and found the incompatability issue.   I've been a user since version 8, and am pretty dependent on it.  I teach at a medical school, and rely on the program for patient write-ups, reports, etc.  I've registered my copy of version 10 on the website, but that's about all I can do.   What happens next?   Will I be sent the new version when it becomes available?  Will an email be sent out?   Thanks for your help, and thanks for the great effort at keeping everyone informed.

Dear Peter,

I am a cardiologist in Canberra, Australia. I purchased Dragon medical 10 and have installed this on my older computer and it is moire accurate than my dragon professional 8.1 with thrid party medical dictionaries. It should be even better when the 64bit version comes out in a few months. Unfortunately the current version uses the US langauge model whereas Australia follows the UK language model. i understand that there is a UK version that was released lst week. Is there an Australian version of Dragon medical and if so when will it become 64 bit compatible.

There isn't an Australian version of Dragon Medical and won't be one in the short term. The best solution is like to be Professional combined with a third party medical vocabulary.

I received an email stating that Dragon Naturally Speaking "now works with Windows Vista 64 bit."  I ordered it.

I received it today.  Guess what?  It won't work with 64 bit computers!

I called customer service at 800-654-1187.  He told me to call 888-372-1908, opt. 3.  He told me to call the first number???

I don't understand why Nuance would send out an email saying that DNS works with 64 bit computers when it doesn't.  I can understand if they said "coming soon" or something similar.

Since I can't install the one I bought, how will I get notified when the new one is available?  How will I get the new one? By mail like the one I just got?  Or will I have to download it?

Q. Which editions of Dragon will be released first?

A. Dragon Standard, Preferred and Professional Version 10.1 will be released by the end of March in English

and yet now it looks like "professional" won't be available until next month, how about giving me a temporary license for preferred so I can install it, set up 64 bit Vista and get on with life.  I can then install "professional" when you get it ready for release.

Peter,

As I've pointed out before, the 'essentials' package seems to be the *** child of a great family.

Is it the position of Nuance that customers that purchased Dragon NaturallySpeaking 'Essentials' suite are they going to be omitted from this free upgrade?

Using the link you provided, I went to the download page and put in my serial number and have been met with grand disbelief; my serial number is NOT valid. I'm a Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 'essentials' customer and apparently, I'm not eligible for the upgrade.

The essentials package is not listed in the dated releases... What response do you have for the customers of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 'essentials'?

Was it a mistake? Did Nuance forget?

Hi Jesse,

Re>  ...using Vista x64, a beta tester of Win7 x64...[are] we allowed to install and use Dragon on both OS's...?

The standard end user license agreement permits you to use the software for a single person on all the systems you use so no problem. Usual caveat applies about Win7 being beta software and not yet officially supported for Dragon.

I bought Dragon version 10 Essentials and had the same problems with the 64-bit system as everyone else.  Now, the download does not recognize the Essentials package of the program.  It let me register as a user with the serial number, but won't allow me the download priveleges.  I can't even find a reference to the Essentials package of the program on your website.  Will I ever be able to get a 64-bit version?

Hey Nuance,

I've already got people complaining that you're not offering free upgrades to 'Essentials' customers. Why would you NOT provide an update to existing Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 customers?

They paid for the software just like anyone else...

If they had 32bit processors and running Dragon NaturallySpeaking they would get all the automatic LIVE updates, why not the FREE upgrade?

All the 'Essentials' users are reporting the same thing. The Nuance website is saying that the KEY they are using is invalid...

You don't even have 'Essentials' listed on the dated releases...

Hi Larry -

We don't have a schedule yet for an Essentials release of 10.1 - it is a much smaller base of customers and we prioritized the higher-end and volume products first.

We are looking at a few options for Essentials customers, including an offer that would get them upgraded to Standard or Preferred for an attractive price.

What do people think of that?

I think Nuance is misleading.

I've been talking with you for months about this update. I've been told several times that Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10 was going to get a free upgrade.

There was never a distinction made whether there was going to be a upgrade for customers who only paid $100 or more for Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

The report from the beginning has been a FREE upgrade. So is the idea to soak the 'Essentials' users now cause they didn't spend $1500?

And if Nuance is going to consider Essentials users less then any other Dragon NaturallySpeaking customer, why bother selling it at all?

Why don't we just sit on the back of the bus with Rosa Parks and bow our heads and be less of a person because we chose not to spend $100-$1500 for Dragon NaturallySpeaking.

Maybe we were smart and made a decision based on what we needed, economics and not what Nuance wanted to sell; then were back to why sell it at all..

I would have to say I'm not exactly elated about the a⋅bout-face that's being perform here.

Honestly, I'm not upset for myself, but the hundreds of people I've helped with the debacle Nuance created with v9 and then on to v10.

The sampling of people that were disenfranchised with Nuance, how they were being treated. They were reassured when I sent them the excerpt from your email telling them Nuance was going to change it's ways and start helping their customers; especially Dragon NaturallySpeaking customers...

While you may not have been part of that decision, you have chosen to put yourself boldly in the eye of public, which makes you personable and if you care for your company and respect your company- you don't want to make yourself or your company look bad.

This seems to be a discriminatory act by Nuance.  Your not placing 'essentials' users in a different category, your abandoning them.

I find this disrespectful. I don't know a single person that likes being treat inferior or disrespectful.

Obviously this sounds like a money issue, but when I emailed you about ideas for 'essentials', I was thinking it would be a plan for the future version, not while the ball was still in the air...

Although, according from its website, Nuance can now sell 10.1 (64bit compatible) professional and legal versions of DNS, there seems to be no mechanism provided for downloading upgraded versions of those for us registered owners who have spent lots of money for those (legal in my case) which we cannot use on our 64bit computers.

What's up???  Thanks.

Hi Tom -

The download is the full product.  If you have Dragon 10, all you need is your valid serial number to download a full version 10.1 build.  If you would prefer to order a DVD, go to the download site and you will find the toll free number to order a DVD for $9.95.

I have waited to purchase DSN 10.1 since I knew 10 wouldn't run on 64-bit. However, I am unclear (even after reading all above posts) how I get 10.1. There seems to be no point in buying 10 at retail, because it won't load. 10.1 is not available at retail and there doesn't seem to be a way to purchase 10.1 online (just FREE downloads for current 10 users).

Also, if I have a SONY ICDSX68DR9 w/pre-installed Dragon Speaking Recorder Edition, can I upgrade somehow? Obviously this version can't be loaded on my machine (64-bit), but I bought the SONY because I knew it was compatible with DSN and I anticipated getting DSN when it was usable on 64-bit.

Thanks for helping me/us through this issue.

I'm very disappointed in Nuance.

I saw on the Dragon NaturallySpeaking Facebook {April 8th 2009} that Nuance has decided not to support or honor their earlier statements to support the 'Essentials' customers.

For months, Dragon NaturallySpeaking customers have been promised updates. Nuance is showing that they are not people of their word.

They have practiced deception and discrimination with their 'Essentials' customers. They knew- they knew they were not going to support those customers and said nothing; announced nothing.

They wait until there's a release/update and then unload on those customers the bad news.

So now, not only is Nuance not going to help the v9 customers they are dropping the v10 Essentials customers because they didn't spend enough on the other suites.

Why does a company do this? Change their support policy in mid-stream? Why do they commit to support for something and then change their mind? Because they are not honorable.

Why concede to handling their customer base so recklessly, commit to helping them more and then only so the side of corporate customer loyalty; being none?

Nuance should enjoy their current status. Not everyone is going to pay $1000 for Voice Recognition and when Microsoft refines theirs, it'll be free and it's very hard to compete with free. And at which time this software line will die.

And if it's not from the competition, it's going to be from the costs, customer disloyalty, support and nickel & dime strategy.

For customers who bought Dragon NaturallySpeaking suites other than Essentials; hope that Nuance doesn't decide your spending enough on their software and force you to buy an upgrade. See how you like it...

Larry 'NapoleonAG' Henry Jr.

Hi Larry -

I'm sorry you are so disappointed with our policy for Essentials.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Essentials, it is a version of Dragon that is only sold in certain stores (like Target) and it has a very limited feature set - and it typically retails for about $49.

Many software companies have a similar strategy with entry-level versions of their software available at discount retail chains.

We don't even sell Essentials on our own website.  Because the price is so low, we don't typically offer upgrade pricing from Essentials to other editions or new versions.

We put the 10.1 version of Essentials low on our priority list because we wanted to make sure we delivered our other products first.  We haven't even committed to delivering a version 10.1 of Essentials.

Because some people need 64-bit Vista support, we decided to put together an upgrade program for Essentials customers.  They could upgrade to Dragon Standard 10.1 for $19.95.  A pretty good deal since Standard lists for $99 and they spent no more than $49 for Essentials.

I realize this doesn't solve everyone's problem - and I am sorry for that.

If you don't like our policy, please feel free to speak up (like Larry did).  I'm very happy to hear your input and listen very seriously to all your suggestions and requests.

Peter

I hate to be judgemental, but this whole delayed support for Vista 64 debacle casts real doubt on whether  Nuance really is committed to the business and professional markets, as you have held yourself out to be with your Medical, Legal and business marketing.  How you could have missed or underestimated the inevitable shift of professionals to Vista 64 based computers is inconceivable to me.

It is one thing if your products were just nice to have products, but they have been positioned to be essential daily production tools for professionals and business leaders. Your grossly delayed support for the computers and operating system that most professionals must upgrade to illustrates a real callousness or lack of perception.  Nuance has done real damage to its product position with this and opened the door for Microsoft to demonstrate another alternative.... free one at that.  Not better, just free... and supported on the latest computers and operating systems.

Some brilliant product or marketing person(s) should be FIRED or at least reprimanded for missing this market shift.

lehenryjr wrote re: Update on Dragon for Windows Vista 64 -- Frequently Asked Questions

Peter,

I don't understand the flow of communication here.

Nuance support is reporting that Nuance is NOT going to support Essentials; options are, Nuance is, OR isn't going to support a product they produce. Yet there seems to be a lot of grey in your position.

Why is Nuance support reporting to Essentials customers it's not supported and offering them upgrades to Standard for $100; are they up selling? or just misinformed.

Peter you say there's a plan '...They could upgrade to Dragon Standard 10.1 for $19.95'... this seems acceptable, since you're going from basic to another level of functionality. This is understandable and I would agree.

Put that on Facebook and this blog or a newsletter. Tell them bluntly, publicly and clearly.

But...This is from Nuance Customer Service...

'...On the other hand, we are currently having a promotion for Dragon Preferred 10 offering it for only $99.99 plus shipping and handling in lieu to its original price of $199.99 plus shipping and handling...'

Where's the Special offer you speak of??

Did support not get this memo?

The communication on this is foggy. It makes it hard to decypher Nuance's information and position.

Nuance Facebook account reports this:

'...We do not currently plan to release a 10.1 version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking Essentials...'

Why duck and weave when it's not required?

It's easy, try this:

Essentials customers, Nuance is not planning to release an update for the Essentials suite at this time, but we are allowing Essentials customers to go ahead and upgrade to 'Standard' for $20.00. Contact Nuance Customer Service at 800 654 1187 to purchase the upgrade and download the update here with your new serial number. Or you can order a DVD for $9.95. Thank you.

Nuance is leaving Essentials customers out there like a worm, writhing on a hook; trying to disseminate these crossing lines of information.

I received this message via email from a reader based on your comments:

'...If you purchase a program with limited functionality it stands to reason that support will also be limited.'

If this being the case, where does it state on/in Nuances website that this is it's policy?

I reviewed my documentation and packaging, I didn't see anything like this, nor saying that Nuance reserves the right to change support terms at anytime based on product suite.

I would suspect that you not dare do this is 'standard' customers and make them by 'preferred' or 'professional' because they are thought to be unimportant...

A question there is, when is Nuance going to consider 'standard' as 'essentials'?

Curiously enough, ...the person that makes these type decisions... is this the same person(s) that said 64-bit was not important? And how is he feeling nowadays?

The issue here is not money, because I agree with you on paying for a step up.

This issue is based on what's right...It always has been.

Best Regards,

L Henry Jr.

I would also like to see Essentials supported. My girlfriend bought this program for her Vista x64 system without knowing that it wasn't supported and would like to see it supported for her computer. We will likely upgrade to a higher version at a later time, but would like to use a lesser version until she gets used to using Dragon on a day to day basis. Which we can't do with a program that doesn't function.

When I contacted customer service 2 weeks ago concerning the 64-bit update for Essentials customers, I was offered an upgrade to Standard for $99.  Now, I hear rumors that the same upgrade is being offered for $20.  No where on your website have you made an official statement on what you are going to for Essentials customers. Is there no consistency in the way these complaints are handled?  If I upgrade to Standard this week, are you going to offer the free 64-bit fix next week?  Please, please, please clearly state on this blog, at the top, Nuance's official statement for its Essentials 10 64-bit customers.  If you can't state it here, please contact your registered users of Essentials with Nuance official statement.

OK, so I purchased this, like many, soon after its release... only to return it to (at that time) Staples (who honored Best Buy's $99.99 price, and since I heart Staples and didn't heard BB until my laptop got me $50 in rewards dollars... easy choice)...

Now, for the next 2 days that is, my "name" links to that product, again at $99.99... I just want to know if I'm actually going to be able to use it. I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit on a laptop. I have NO room to start fiddling with dual OS's, phantom/ghost drives... the hard drive on here is NOT huge. I just want to be certain I'm not AGAIN returning a product I'm a bit frustrated to be purchasing twice (especially as I am a rider of mass transit and can't just zip out to the store and back without an extra $20 out of my pocket).

Dragon NaturallySpeaking 'essentials' Fun facts:

Did you know that 'essentials' provides dictation in to just about every software and offers word processing functions and editing and sells for $49 at ONLY Target?

Did you know that Nuance promised free upgrades to ALL Dragon NaturallySpeaking customers, until the day of the upgrade release and then shafted the 'essentials' users; breaking their promise?

Did you know 'essentials' suite is the only group of users that were not provided a free upgrade to Vista 64-bit Operating System?

Did you know that 'essentials' apparently can't get the free update, but they buy an upgrade to 'standard' for $19, but they can't download the 'standard' package from Nuance? They have to pay the duty taxes and the additional shipping and handling fee's to have it shipped $20. Total $40.

Did you know that Nuance doesn't want to recognize 'essentials' users as a official product they produce because they don't/aren't making enough money on it?

Representing others.

Enjoy.

Larry, thanks for calling attention to our Essentials customers and the opportunity to upgrade to Standard. I agree that there is occasionally confusion about the differences between the various editions of Dragon NaturallySpeaking, particularly Essentials ($49 suggested retail price) and Standard ($99 suggested retail price). Dragon NaturallySpeaking Essentials is an entry-level speech recognition tool designed for the “casual user,” and only sold through the mass merchant channel. Since Essentials is a product for basic speech recognition tasks, here are some additional “Fun Facts” about Essentials that explain why we encourage Essentials users to take advantage of our promotional offer to upgrade to Dragon NaturallySpeaking Standard 10.1 or Preferred 10.1.

Upgrading to Standard (or higher editions) will:

• Improve Accuracy: Dragon Standard allows customers to use the Acoustic Optimizer. What does this mean? As you make and train corrections and perform additional training, Dragon stores the acoustic data in an archive and uses it to enhance recognition accuracy over time. Dragon Standard also allows users to take advantage of the "add contacts from email" functionality. This tool allows users to add the names of people to whom you have sent email to your Dragon vocabulary. More importantly, the tool actually detects the names of your contacts and offers them to you. You can also have Dragon scan the contents of your sent email and adapt the language model to more accurately recognize your writing style.

• Improve Email Experience – Dragon Standard delivers enhanced command and control functionality for Microsoft Outlook Express. This means that customers can use more voice commands to control Outlook Express rather than being forced to manually navigate menus or click the mouse to perform tasks (beyond basic dictation) within the application, or use DragonPad.

• Improve Word Processing Experience – Dragon Standard allows Natural Language Commands and increased compatibility for Microsoft Word (the most commonly used application for Dragon) and WordPerfect (another popular word processing application).  Instead of requiring users to memorize a specific command, such as "bold that," Natural Language Commands recognize a wide variety of ways in which a user may issue a command. "Make that bold," "Bold the last paragraph," "Set font bold" will all accomplish the same task, as will many more conversational commands. Dragon Standard recognizes hundreds of ways in which a person could issue a command; however, the user only needs to say what comes naturally.

• Improve Usability – Dragon Standard includes a detailed product tutorial. While we try to make our products as easy as possible to use, the tutorial provides tips and tricks that help users become more familiar with Dragon and how it works.

As a whole, these additional features will provide Essentials users with increased accuracy and ease of use, particularly in word processing and email applications.

We’ve tried to be as upfront as possible with customers as we re-engineered Dragon to install and run on the Vista 64-bit operating system.  Our upgrade decisions are based on customer needs, and we found that the user demand for 64-bit support is low within some areas of our customer base worldwide. In the case of Essentials, this is a low-cost product that is primarily built for the 32-bit operating environment. Contrary to Larry’s opinion, we value all Dragon customers, regardless of the specific edition of the product they’re using. We encourage customers who have any questions about the differences between the various editions of Dragon NaturallySpeaking or would like an explanation of our Vista 64-bit upgrade policies to contact Nuance customer service (a free call) at 800-654-1187. We’re happy to answer any specific questions from customers and help you select the best speech recognition product for your individual needs.

As with Johnny, who posted on 4/28/2009, I would like to know the status of the Legal 64-bit version.  I have been looking almost every day to see if the Legal version is yet downloadable.  Today, the update went from "end of April" to "Not available as a download."

So I called the toll free number and was told to look for it at the end of May, or possibly mid-May.

Is there a more reliable estimate as to the release date of Legal 10.1?  Will it be downloadable, or will we have to order the DVD?

I have waited several months for this and may just start using Vista's speech recognition and forego any further speech recognition purchases from Nuance.  Typing is too painful and I have put off authoring some briefs until now with the hope that the Legal version would be out as of today.

Any update would be much appreciated.

I just called the number, and after 45 minutes on the phone, all I get was another number, and a guy calling me a woman and telling me I'm not important to Nuance unless I pay extra above my  original 50$ payment.

I am very disappointed with Nuance, and will continue to spread bad words about them until these problems with their systems are fixed.

I agree with everything that Larry said, and a useless 50$ program that I can't use due to a lack of support for actual paying customers.

I hope that Nuance is happy after cheating hundreds of people out of fifty bucks, and not even giving a visible warning that the program was not compatible with 64 bit OSs.

I had previously heard that Nuance was a good company, and that Dragon was the best Speech-to-Text program available.  Now I realize differently that they are a corrupt, cheap, organization that only cares about money without giving a thought to their customers.

I will continue to spread this bad word about Nuance until a Essentials update is available.

Nuance is now looking at another problem square down the double barrel of Microsoft compliance process.

According to Microsoft documentation, in order for a software vendor to use the phrase ‘Works with Vista’ – “Applications must be tested on Windows Vista Release Candidate software or later. *The application must be tested on both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows Vista.*”

– Nuance has NOT done this.

Check it out.

What's about with Windows Server 2008 now?

And in October 2009? If Win 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 start?

thanks

"vista 64 support"

"works with vista 64"

"compatible with vista 64"

this is all dishonest..

we want to know if this

program is 64 bit or 32 bit..

we know vista will run legacy

32 bit programs in "WOW" mode..

THAT IS NOT WHAT WE WANT TO KNOW..

how about this- i run vista 64

on the Itanium 64 bit processor..

will it use my 8 gig of memory?

will someone step forward and

be honest and tell me if this

10.1 is a 64 bit program or not?

Nuance must have hired the dumbest people on the face of the earth to create this DNS 64 bit fiasco. I work with a company of 150,000 people all over the world and I can reach them all with a click of my mouse. Think about it!
